Heat treatments<\/strong> are essential processes that involve the controlled heating and cooling<\/strong> of steel components to modify their mechanical and performance properties<\/strong>, including strength<\/strong>, hardness<\/strong>, ductility<\/strong>, toughness<\/strong>, and resilience<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Arcoprofil\u2019s in-house production process<\/strong> fully integrates the heat treatment phase, allowing direct and flexible management<\/strong> of treatment cycles based on the component type<\/strong> and its intended application<\/strong>. This approach enables the delivery of customized services<\/strong>, enhanced quality control<\/strong>, and high repeatability of results<\/strong>, ensuring reliable and high-performance components<\/strong> even in demanding industrial applications.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Medium frequency induction hardening<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The department is equipped with induction hardening systems<\/strong>, ideal for enhancing the performance of steel<\/strong> and improving the ability of components to withstand high loads<\/strong> and mechanical stresses<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Arcoprofil operates three medium-frequency induction hardening systems<\/strong> (1 to 30 kHz), two of which are fully automated with robotic loading and unloading<\/strong>, with a power capacity of up to 200 kW<\/strong>. These systems can treat components up to 2,000 mm in length<\/strong> and are equipped with supporting fixtures<\/strong> to minimize dimensional distortions<\/strong> during the hardening process.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Case hardening & tempering<\/strong><\/p>\n

The heat treatment department is also equipped with a pit case-hardening furnace<\/strong>, used to achieve high surface hardness<\/strong> on steel components, with case depths ranging from 0.3 to 2.8 mm<\/strong>. The case-hardening process<\/strong> enriches the component surface with carbon, providing elevated surface hardness<\/strong> without compromising the overall mechanical strength<\/strong> of the part. This treatment is particularly suitable for components subject to wear<\/strong> and cyclic loads<\/strong>, such as drive shafts<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

For stress-relief treatment<\/strong>, Arcoprofil uses a batch chamber furnace<\/strong>, designed to reduce residual stresses<\/strong> generated by previous heat treatments. This process helps improve dimensional stability<\/strong> and the long-term reliability<\/strong> of the component.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Automatic straightening <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Arcoprofil is equipped with 4 CNC automatic straightening machines<\/strong>, all fitted with QASS in-process crack detection systems<\/strong> and integrated with loading and unloading robots<\/strong> to ensure maximum efficiency and operational safety.<\/p>\n

Some machines are also equipped with post-process UT (ultrasonic testing)<\/strong>, enabling the detection of internal defects<\/strong> that are not visible during the straightening process.<\/p>\n

To ensure the highest component reliability, additional inspections can be performed using magnetization and liquid penetrant testing (Magnaflux)<\/strong>, providing comprehensive quality control<\/strong> and compliance with the most stringent industrial standards.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Washing<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

Following heat treatment, the parts are thoroughly washed to remove residues and contaminants. When required, parts are also shot-blasted or sand-blasted in-house to eliminate surface oxidation and achieve the desired surface condition, ensuring optimal preparation for subsequent manufacturing stages or final assembly.<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

To further enhance process efficiency and environmental sustainability, Arcoprofil has recently installed a new washing plant<\/strong> equipped with a vacuum washing machine<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

This advanced system operates <\/span>without the use of water<\/strong>, relying instead on <\/span>modified alcohols and hydrocarbons<\/strong> to ensure effective and consistent cleaning of components after heat treatment.<\/span><\/p>\n

The introduction of this innovative washing technology has already delivered measurable results within the first nine months of operation<\/strong>, including a water saving of 30,000 liters<\/strong> and a 99% recovery rate of material waste<\/strong>. These outcomes highlight Arcoprofil\u2019s commitment to sustainable manufacturing<\/strong>, resource efficiency<\/strong>, and environmentally responsible industrial processes<\/strong>, without compromising on product quality or cleanliness
